Tours
Cape York is a true adventure lover’s paradise, and we work closely with a range of local operators to arrange tours and recommend itineraries so you can make the most of your visit to the Tip. We also offer vehicle hire for independent adventurers who want to explore with nothing more than a map and a point in the right direction from our friendly staff.
If you’re interested in booking a tour, contact our team and we can help make it happen.
Day Trip To The Tip
We host our own private tours to the Tip, the most northerly point of the Australian mainland. Departing in a private 4WD, we make our way north, stopping in at the Croc Tent for an opportunity to purchase some Northern Queensland souvenirs, and visit the ruins of the Pajinka Resort. From here, embark on a 20 minute (unpaved) walk along a rocky outcrop to the Tip. After this we will travel to a nearby beach to enjoy a packed lunch. The itinerary for the day is flexible and we will visit the historical crash site of the DC3 airplane just outside town and the ruined homestead at Somerset either on the way to the Tip or on the way back. This tour is operated by Cape York Peninsula Lodge.
Fruit Bat Falls Day Tour
Departing in a private 4WD, we leave the sealed roads behind on a detour to see the crash site of a DC3 airplane from WWII. Afterwards, we make our way to the mighty Jardine River (approx. 45 minutes) and sit tight as the 4WD is loaded onto a ferry to cross the water. Guests will stay in the vehicle for the crossing. After reaching the other side, we continue on the 4WD track to Fruit Bat Falls, including turning off to drive a section of the old Telegraph Track. We arrive at Fruit Bat Falls around 10.30am, where the water is inviting and swimming is recommended. Enjoy a gourmet lunch and a swim in the pristine waters, before returning to the Lodge. This tour is operated by Cape York Peninsula Lodge.
World Class Fishing
Cape York is internationally recognised for its incredible fishing offering. We can help you organise charters that take keen fishers to a wide variety of locations, including remote freshwater billabongs and estuaries, to beaches, reefs and islands.
Some of the more populous species you’ll find in our waters include barramundi, king salmon, mangrove jack, fingermark, black jewfish, queenfish, giant trevally, Spanish mackerel and tuna. We recommend booking fishing tours ahead of time to avoid disappointment, but if you do miss out on a water-based fishing charter, a variety of amazing land-based fishing spots are accessible year-round.

4WD Adventures
Cape York’s great wilderness and rugged landscapes make it a dream for 4WD enthusiasts. Climb into a 4WD and set out on a private tour to Somerset, Jardine River and Fruit Bat Falls. Itineraries can be adapted to suit your interests and needs.

Cultural experiences
Cape York Peninsula is regarded for the strong, rich culture of the Aboriginal people and their Islander neighbours of the Torres Strait. Vibrant and diverse, this region offers opportunities to absorb and connect with the rhythms of this ancient land and people.
The Lodge regularly hosts performances from Naygayiw Gigi for tour groups and guests. Naygayiw Gigi is an award-winning traditional Torres Strait Island dance troupe who have performed at national and international events. If you’re interested in seeing a performance, contact our Reception for up to date information on when the next performance might take place.
This experience is run by a third-party operator, however we can provide you further information on enquiry.
INDIGENOUS TOURS
We operate two return day trips hosted by a local Indigenous driver-guide, showcasing the natural wonders and history of the region.
Guests can travel through rugged Cape York Peninsula country, see the historical Somerset and WWII wreckage site, before finally reaching the northernmost Tip of Australia. Please note, though we offer tours to indigenous cave paintings, they are difficult to get to and depend on tides as well as your fitness ability.
Alternatively, you can cross the Jardine River and visit Twin Falls then swim at Fruit Bat Falls, where nature has purpose-built a spectacular bathing pool.
Optional extras will include a 3-course meal package at the Lodge’s Paperbark Restaurant, as well as a cultural performance from the award-winning traditional Torres Strait Island dance troupes, Naygayiw Gigi and Guba Markai Cultural Group.
Guests will be transported either in a purpose-built 4x4 coach offering modern safety features, comfortable seating, UV tinted windows and air conditioning or LandCruiser depending on numbers. The LandCruiser accommodates up to 6 people comfortably.
